Lebanon: The Grand\u00a0Chancellor\u00a0of the Order of Malta\u00a0writes\u00a0to Prime\u00a0Minister\u00a0Nawaf Salam. \u201cSolidarity\u00a0and\u00a0unwavering\u00a0commitment to the people\u201d<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n Rome, 10 April 2026 <\/i><\/em>\u2013 Riccardo\u00a0Patern\u00f2\u00a0di\u00a0Montecupo, the Grand Chancellor of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, also on behalf of the Grand Master Fra\u2019 John T.\u00a0Dunlap, has sent an official letter to\u00a0Lebanese\u00a0Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to express his deep sympathy and support for the institutions and people of Lebanon during this tragic and challenging period, which has had extremely serious humanitarian consequences.<\/p>\n “The Lebanese people, who have always been very dear to the Order of Malta, deserve peace, stability, security and prosperity after such extensive and prolonged suffering and deprivation”,\u00a0Patern\u00f2\u00a0writes.<\/p>\n Present in Lebanon\u00a0since\u00a01953, the Order of Malta\u00a0operates\u00a0through\u00a0its\u00a0National Association,\u00a0which\u00a0is\u00a0currently\u00a0addressing\u00a0the\u00a0emergency\u00a0and\u00a0ensuring\u00a0the\u00a0continuity\u00a0of long-term\u00a0projects\u00a0while\u00a0scaling up\u00a0extraordinary\u00a0interventions\u00a0to\u00a0assist\u00a0the\u00a0displaced.<\/p>\n In recent weeks, the humanitarian effort has made it possible to provide essential support in the form of healthcare services (5,000), pharmaceuticals (approximately 4,000), meals (approximately 23,000), educational and recreational kits (approximately 800)\u00a0and other forms of aid.<\/p>\n \u201cThe\u00a0Order of Malta is committed to\u00a0mobilising\u00a0international support for Lebanon through its entities worldwide and other partners of the Order\u201d,\u00a0concluded the Grand Chancellor.\u00a0\u201cLebanon can count on our unwavering commitment, our solidarity, and our friendship.\u201d<\/p>\n The Order of Malta calls for a\u00a0swift\u00a0ceasefire, partly to facilitate access for\u00a0humanitarian\u00a0aid\u00a0and the\u00a0restoration\u00a0of\u00a0essential\u00a0social services.<\/p>\n Sixty years of service in the country<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n The Lebanese Association of the Knights of Malta (also known as Order of Malta Lebanon) has been committed for decades to serving the most vulnerable communities across the country, regardless of origin or religion, with the highest quality standards. Through a network of 60 projects and programs composed of 12 community healthcare centers, 12 mobile medical units, 7 agro-humanitarian centers, 3 mobile community kitchens, 2 hosting centers for the differently abled, and several other programs, the Order in Lebanon provides essential medical, social, and agricultural support to those in need.
