Romanian Diplomacy Annual Meeting

The Romanian Diplomacy Annual Meeting (RADR) took place from August 29th to 30th in Bucharest.
The accredited diplomatic corp was invited to a forum and the protocol reception on 29th.
The forum, hosted by HE Luminita Odobescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs saw the President of the Senate and Former Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca as a key note speaker.
Key priorities within the complex regional context of the war in Ukraine were highlighted in the speeches. Access to the Schengen Area, progressing the access process to OECD, supporting Romanian diaspora and continuous support to Ukraine and Moldova are among the main political priorities mentioned for Romanian diplomacy.
A strong reference was also made to economic diplomacy with a clear set of economic priorities: energy and food security in the current context, climate change and digital transformation were also highlighted.
The traditional Euro Atlantic posture of Romania and role in the South Eastern flank of the alliance were stressed within the framework of the main strategic partnerships starting from that with the US as well as some more punctual, fluid and reversible partnerships to address the opportunities to deliver a stronger and predictable economic growth.
The protocol reception was also a good opportunity for the diplomatic corp accredited to Romania to meet the respective counterparts as well as authorities and other Romanian diplomats posted abroad.
