In a special event held at the Diplomatic Club, the evening of June 14th marked the National Day of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta with unprecedented success. The official proceedings were followed by a nice dinner set amidst the club’s garden and the performance of two exceptional cellists created a memorable experience. With an impressive turnout of approximately 180 attendees, this year’s celebration witnessed the highest number of participants in the National Day’s celebration history.
The event boasted an esteemed guest list, including prominent figures such as Metropolitan Archbishop Aurel Perca, bishops, and representatives from various religious denominations. Notable attendees included esteemed representatives from the Romanian Orthodox Church, Islamic and Jewish communities, as well as members of the Royal House, NGO sector, and both the Romanian and international business communities. Ambassadors and Charge d’affaires from numerous embassies also graced the occasion, highlighting the event’s significance.
Despite the concurrent governmental proceedings regarding the formation of a new administration, the event attracted the participation of high-ranking officials. Four Secretaries of State, Deputy Ministers, and advisors to the Prime Minister made their presence felt, while the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister conveyed their well-wishes through trusted representatives. Additionally, parliamentarians from across party lines joined the festivities, emphasizing the collective spirit of the occasion.
On behalf of Romanian authorities, Secretary of State Traian Laurentiu Hristea, responsible for global affairs and diplomatic strategy, delivered a noteworthy speech. His address not only reaffirmed the exceptional diplomatic relations between Romania and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta but also acknowledged the ongoing efforts of the Relief Corp SAMR in addressing the crisis faced by displaced individuals from Ukraine.
