During his working visit to Romania, the Grand Hospitaller of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, HE Dr Josef D. Blotz, visited the Order’s Special Kindergarten (Grădinița Specială Malteză) in Cluj-Napoca, one of the Order’s longstanding social services in the country.

For more than two decades, the kindergarten has supported children with moderate and severe neuromotor disabilities, including children with cerebral palsy and autism spectrum disorders. Working closely with specialised therapists, each child follows an individual programme designed around their particular needs and development. The kindergarten provides a form of specialised care available in only a limited number of facilities in Cluj-Napoca.

During the visit, the Grand Hospitaller met staff and volunteers and had the opportunity to observe their work with the children first-hand. Reflecting on the wider presence of the Order in Romania, Dr Blotz described its works and services in the country as a “precious stone in the Order’s crown”.

The visit formed part of a broader programme dedicated to learning more about the activities of the Order of Malta Romania and the services provided to vulnerable communities across the country.

The Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Romania expresses its appreciation to the staff, therapists, volunteers, and families of the Order’s Special Kindergarten. Through their daily commitment, the Order’s mission, Tuitio fidei et obsequium pauperum, is translated into practical care, dignity, and service to some of the most vulnerable members of society.
