Africa Day

Africa Day

Yesterday,  The Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta joined, as every year, the AFRICA DAY when National days of all African countries are celebrated at the Diplomatic Club. This year the focus was on EDUCATION & RE-SKILLING of Africa for the new global challenges.

As usual this event is a real Energy explosion of Colours, Sounds, Food and Dances that describe how vibrant and full of opportunities this continent is despite many challenges and contradictions.

The opening remarks were made by H.E.Hassan Abouyoub, the Ambassador of Morocco and Decan of African Ambassadors. He outlined the intense relations of his continent with Romania and the cooperation in higher education as well as in business matters. His remarks were echoed by the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Luminita Odobescu that stressed the complexity of such relations and the importance of the African continent for Romania and Europe as a whole. The Sovereign Order of Malta is deeply involved in many projects in Africa on healthcare and inclusion issues and it remains very attentive to any development in the region.

Ambassador Roberto Musneci joined the event together with James M. Wilson, the Head of Communications and Media at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Romania, who is a close friend of the Order and member of The Embassy communication team — and Claudiu Padurean.
