On 26 May 2025, the Ambassador of the Order of Malta to Romania, HE Roberto Musneci KM, along with other members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Romania, were invited by HE Nicușor Dan to witness his oath-taking ceremony and inauguration as President at Parliament in Bucharest.

The ceremony was opened by the interim President of the Senate, the President of the Constitutional Court, and blessed by His Holiness Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Orthodox Church, in the presence of Her Majesty Margareta of Romania, the Constitutional Court, and numerous other notable figures.

In his inaugural speech, President Dan provided a comprehensive list of priorities he considered vital for Romania. In addition to reconfirming the Euro-Atlantic values and strategic alliances, the President identified economic, judicial, and technological reforms as key objectives, and focused also on healthcare and education as pre-requisites for the continued development of the country. He also underscored the relationship with the Republic of Moldova and engaging the vast Romanian diaspora as key elements of his mandate.

At the end of the ceremony, Ambassador Musneci stated, “President Dan outlined a comprehensive set of priorities that will be discussed with the parties in coming days in view of the appointment of the new Prime Minister and the creation of the Government.” The Ambassador added, “Our Order—with its long-standing excellent relations with Romania—looks forward to continued dialogue and partnership on social inclusion, which is one of the main interests of the President.”
