15 January marked the National Day of Romanian Culture, an annual celebration on the date of birth of the renowned Romanian poet, Mihai Eminescu. To mark the occasion, Minister of Culture Natalia-Elene Intotero organised a concert at the Bucharest National Opera House for the public, authorities, and the diplomatic corps in Romania.

The concert featured the Bucharest National Opera Symphonic Orchestra and Ballet, as well as well-known opera singers and maestro Gheorghe Zamfir, among other talented performers. Presidential Adviser, Dr Diana-Loreta Păun, greeted the audience on behalf of Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, and Minister Intotero spoke to emphasise the unifying role of cultural identity, particularly in challenging times, as a bridge with different cultures.

Together with his wife Marialaura, HE Roberto Musneci, Ambassador of the Order of Malta to Romania, attended the performance. Following the event, he stated, “Tonight’s performance was magnificent, and I would like to thank Minister Intotero for the kind invitation. Her reference to the synergies between culture and faith, among other concepts expressed, struck a chord to the work of the Order and all of us as Members.”

Notably, 2025 marks the 175th anniversary of the birth of Mihai Eminescu, as well as 70 years from the death of the great Romanian composer George Enescu, and 100 years from the birth of Marin Constantin, renowned musician, conductor, and composer, who founded the National Chamber Choir “Madrigal – Marin Constantin”.
