On 18 February 2025, the Sovereign Council of the Order of Malta has appointed HE Dr Josef D. Blotz KM as the new Grand Hospitaller of the Order.

Following the appointment of Dr Blotz as the new Grand Hospitaller, Ambassador of the Order of Malta to Romania, HE Roberto Musneci KM, stated, “On behalf of the Order of Malta Romania, I want to express my immense gratitude to the outgoing Grand Hospitaller, Fra’ Alessandro de Franciscis KM, for all of his hard work and support to the Order’s efforts in Romania, Ukraine, and around the globe.”

Ambassador Musneci added, “The Order of Malta Romania also wishes good luck to Dr. Blotz, and we look forward to supporting and working closely with him in his vital role within our Order.”
