On the evening of Thursday 19 June 2025, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Romania, HE Roberto Musneci KM, attended a reception in Bucharest celebrating His Britannic Majesty the King’s Birthday.
Hosted by HE Giles Portman, His Majesty’s Ambassador to Romania, the event was attended by a wide range of the diplomatic community and wider civil society in Romania, where the guest of honour was HE Nicusor Dan, the President of Romania.In their addresses, President Dan and Ambassador Portman stressed the strong and deep partnership between the two states, including in aspects of the economy, culture, defence, and diplomacy.Leaving the event Ambassador Musneci stated, “It is always a great pleasure to join the King’s—and in past years, the Queen’s—birthday celebrations alongside the British, Romanian, and international communities here in Romania.”The Ambassador added, “This year in particular is the first celebration since the United Kingdom and the Order of Malta formally established official relations with the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding in October 2024.”
