On 23 October 2025, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Romania, HE Roberto Musneci KM, met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, HE Cătălin Predoiu, for a working meeting.

The Ministry of Interior is a key institutional partner for the Order of Malta in Romania. The Ministry’s emergency response authority, SMURD, led by Secretary of State Dr Raed Arafat, has long been a valued collaborator of the Order, particularly in first aid training programmes and a range of other humanitarian initiatives.

During the meeting, Minister Predoiu and Ambassador Musneci discussed the Order’s ongoing activities in Romania, the current situation of Ukrainian refugees, and matters related to false orders that have drawn the attention of the Romanian authorities by mimicking the real Order of Malta.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Musneci stated, “It is always a great pleasure to meet Minister Predoiu and exchange information about our activities and potential collaborations with the first responder structures of the Ministry. These brief and practical meetings greatly help our Relief Corps, Serviciul de Ajutor Maltez în România, to confirm its role in supporting those in need.”
