On 28 October, Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Romania, HE Roberto Musneci, met with the President of the Federation of Jewish Communities in Romania and Member of the Chamber of Deputies, HE Silviu Vexler, at the Choral Temple (Romanian: Templul Coral) in central Bucharest.
The meeting was an opportunity to share the activities of the Order of Malta in Romania and Ukraine, as well as to learn about initiatives developed by the Jewish community for supporting over 2,000 elderly people in Romania and approximately 3,000 children who came to Romania from Ukraine. During the meeting, the two officials reflected on the situation in the Holy Land and the origins of the Order, as well as humanitarian support initiatives for the war in Ukraine.
At the end of the meeting Ambassador Musneci stated, “Over and beyond the warm welcome and great personal courtesy of President Vexler, in our extensive meeting we identified possible areas of collaboration in the coming months in support of people in need, both in Romania and Ukraine.” He added, “It is my conviction that supporting and facilitating interfaith dialogue, understanding, and cooperation – particularly in times of violence and conflict around the world today – is vital.”
