From 28 May to 4 June, the Order of Malta in Romania hosted 45 children and teachers from Kamianets-Podilskyi in Ukraine at the Order’s camp facilities located in Micfalău, Covasna County, in the heart of Transylvania.

During their week in Romania, the children had the opportunity to rest, relax, play—a chance to enjoy some real childhood. They shared a lot of smiles and laughter, taking part in group activities, sports, handmade crafts, as well as visiting the famous Bran Castle and other sites.

For part of their trip, the children were accompanied by the President of Kamianets-Podilskyi District Council, Mr. Mykhailo Simashkevich, and members of his team. This camp is the third of its kind to date with children from Kamianets-Podilskyi, and was organised by the Order of Malta Relief Corps in Romania, Serviciul de Ajutor Maltez în România (SAMR). The relations between the Kamianets-Podilskyi District Council and the Order of Malta have been strong since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, where SAMR have made numerous field missions to Kamianets-Podilskyi Rayon.

The Order of Malta in Romania continues our support to the Ukrainian people in their time of need, and we remain stedfast in our commitment to the preservation of human dignity and the care of all those in need, regardless of their origin or religion.
