The Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Romania deeply regrets yet another tragic occasion to sign the Book of Condolences at the Embassy of Ukraine. This time, it was to honour the memory of 21 elderly civilians who were deliberately killed while queuing to collect their pensions in a rural village where no military targets were present.
Following a brief meeting with H.E. Ihor Prokopchuk, Ambassador of Ukraine to Romania, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Romania, H.E. Roberto Musneci KM, stated: “It is heartbreaking to return so often to the Embassy of Ukraine to express our solidarity for the victims, mostly civilians, of this terrible unprovoked war.”
Ambassador Musneci added: “We pray for those who lost their lives, their families and those wounded in this attack—as well as all of those suffering due to the war.”
The Embassy stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and continues to uphold the Order’s mission of compassion and humanitarian support in the face of suffering and injustice.
