On Sunday, December 29th, His Excellency Metropolitan Archbishop Aurel Perca inaugurated the Jubilee Year with a procession and a Holy Mass at St. Joseph Cathedral in Bucharest. The ceremony was co-celebrated by His Excellency Archbishop Emeritus and member of the Order Ioan Robu, the Apostolic Nuncio His Excellency Giampiero Gloder, Auxiliary Archbishop His Excellency Cornel Damian, and several members of the clergy.

In his homily, Archbishop Perca emphasized the importance of maintaining hope during a time of significant challenges in many parts of the world, encouraging the faithful to reclaim the optimism that arises from hope. He also highlighted the vital role of the family, reflecting on the teachings of the Gospel according to Luke, which were particularly relevant to this weekend.

The Metropolitan Archbishop designated St. Joseph Cathedral and the Carmelite Monastery in Ciofliceni as places of pilgrimage for the Jubilee, which will conclude on December 28th, 2025.

Ambassador Musneci attended the ceremony alongside a few members of the Order and had the opportunity to briefly meet with Archbishop Perca to exchange best wishes for the new year.
